Heisman Winner Salaam Dead

By Pat Graham and Arnie Stapleton – (AP) Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam was found dead Monday night in a Boulder, Colorado park less than two miles from Folsom Field, where he carved his name into the University of Colorado record books as one of the greatest players in the program’s history. The Boulder County coroner’s office was still investigating the cause of the death of the 42-year-old Salaam, who won the Heisman in 1994. The body of the one-time running back was found at Eben G. Fine Park in Boulder. Police say foul play was not suspected. Salaam’s mother, Khalada, told USA…

A Win For The Ages!

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — The white out in the stands became the white out on the field as Penn State fans mobbed their Nittany Lions. Well after the biggest victory of the post-Joe Paterno era was over, the cries of “We Are! Penn State!” echoed underneath 56-year-old Beaver Stadium and bounced off its big rusty metal beams. The little number means nothing in the big, complex picture of Texas football, but it does mark a return to contention, and that’s all that Charlie Strong needs in 2016. Texas wasn’t expected to win the Big 12, and trust me, no one saved a spot for the Longhorns in their projected College Football Playoff. But contention, standing eye-to-eye with…

Michigan, Notre Dame Renew Rivalry In 2018

By Adam Silverstein/ – Michigan and Notre Dame are resuming their historic football series beginning in 2018. Notre Dame will host Michigan in the first game on Sept. 1, 2018, with a return contest set for Michigan Stadium on Oct. 26, 2019. The Wolverines and Fighting Irish last squared off in 2014 with Notre Dame routing Michigan 31-0. The programs had played consecutively from 2002-14 and 42 times in total dating back to 1887, including 31-of-37 years since 1978. The three-year drought will be the longest in the series since 1943 to 1978. Discussion for renewing the series has been…
