The Los Angeles Dodgers checked an item off their list, agreeing to a trade that netted them catcher Carlos Ruiz from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for backstop A.J. Ellis, pitcher Tommy Bergjans, and a player to be named later. Bell Suspension Reduced

By Will Brinson/CBSSports.com – Le’Veon Bell promised he wouldn’t miss four games because of a suspension for a missed drug test and he was right, sort of. The Pittsburgh Steelers running back will have his suspension reduced by one game. Bell was initially slated to miss the Steelers’ first four games of the year, but it will be moved to three games after the NFL and NFLPA reached a settlement on Bell’s case. SU Football Violates NCAA Rules

Following a lengthy investigation, SU found alumnus Nick Lopardo paid the tuition bill of a member of the football team in 2015.   Administration became suspicious in August 2015, after the player’s overdue tuition bill was paid the same day that alumnus, Joe Palchak, a member of the Board of Trustees, inquired about the status of the student’s bill. Bucknell To Play Temple In 2019

BucknellBison.com/LEWISBURG, Pa. – After a nearly 50-year hiatus in the series, the Bucknell and Temple football teams have signed a contract to play in 2019 in Philadelphia. The game will kick off the 2019 season and take place on Aug. 31. The in-state rivals and former Middle Atlantic Conference members last played in 1970. Ficken Signs With Jaguars

By Shawn Carey/Steve Jones Show Producer  –  The wait is finally over for Sam Ficken.  The former Penn State Nittany Lions kicker will join the Jacksonville Jaguars for their training camp.  The team announced on their official Twitter page that Ficken was signed to the team’s 90-man roster. Earlier this year, Ficken worked out for Jacksonville.  Last year, Ficken received off-season chances with Arizona and Kansas City but ultimately was not signed to a deal. Former NFL Coach Dennis Green Dies

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Dennis Green, a trailblazing coach who led a Minnesota Vikings renaissance in the 1990s before a less successful run with the Arizona Cardinals, has died. He was 67. Green’s family posted a message on the Cardinals website on Friday announcing the death. “His family was by his side and he fought hard,” the statement read. Other details were not immediately disclosed, though the Cardinals said Green had died of a heart attack. Green spent 10 seasons in Minnesota, leading the Vikings to eight playoff appearances and two NFC championship games. He only had one losing season…

NFL Reviewing Allegations Against Elliott

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The NFL says it is reviewing domestic violence allegations against Dallas Cowboys rookie Ezekiel Elliott. A police report says Elliott denied allegations that he assaulted his girlfriend early Friday in Columbus, Ohio, causing bruises and abrasions. The report says he wasn’t arrested because of conflicting versions of what happened. Three witnesses told police they didn’t see Elliott assault the woman. A message seeking comment was left with Elliott’s agent. Elliott is a running back who played at Ohio State. He turned 21 Friday.
