Legendary Nittany Lions Voice Fran Fisher Dies
He brought Penn State football to the radio, gave us the Nittany Lion logo nicknamed the “Chipmunk” and brought us memorable moments like a national championship call in the 1983 Sugar Bowl. Legendary radio voice of Nittany Lions football, Fran Fisher, died Thursday at the age of 91. Jerry Fisher, one of Fran’s sons, tweeted about his father’s passing Thursday morning.

Fisher was inducted into Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame and an Honorary Alumni of Penn State.
