By Travis Johnson — STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — DaeSean Hamilton began his Penn State career uncertain he’d ever get a chance to contribute. He’ll end it with the most receptions in Nittany Lions history. The fifth-year senior caught nine passes for 122 yards and three touchdowns and broke the school receptions mark in No. 4 Penn State’s 45-14 victory over Indiana on Saturday. “I think he’s a great example for our younger players,” coach James Franklin said. “They’ve been playing football at Penn State for a long time. There’s been a bunch of really good players. So whenever you…

By Travis Johnson – STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — All week, the usually unflappable Trace McSorley told himself, if he could settle his feet down, his arm would follow suit. A week after Penn State’s quarterback played his most uneven game in a while, bouncing on his toes and firing over his teammates heads, he had one of his best under Beaver Stadium’s bright lights. McSorley threw a stadium-record 85-yard touchdown pass to Saquon Barkley for one of his four scoring strikes and also ran for a touchdown in No. 5 Penn State’s 56-0 victory over Georgia State 56-0. “That…

By Michael Marot – INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — As Penn State’s band played and Lucas Oil Stadium rocked, thousands of fans clad in their traditional white shirts chanted “We Are Penn State.” It might have been more fitting if had it been “We are Penn State — and we are back.” Quarterback Trace McSorley put the Nittany Lions squarely back in the national spotlight Saturday night with an epic 38-31 come-from-behind victory over No. 6 Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game. It was the largest comeback in the six-year history of the game. Before coach James Franklin left the field,…

PITTSBURGH, PA (UPI) – Penn State wouldn’t lie down but Pittsburgh wouldn’t be denied. Quadree Henderson returned a fourth-quarter kickoff 84 yards to set up James Conner’s second touchdown of the game and Pittsburgh held on to beat Penn State 42-39 on Saturday in Pittsburgh. With Penn State nearing field goal range, Pittsburgh safety Ryan Lewis intercepted Trace McSorley’s pass in the end zone with 1:15 left to secure the win in the first meeting of the two rivals since 2000. George Aston added two touchdowns for the Panthers (2-0) who stayed ahead with a punishing ground game. Saquon Barkley…
PSU Over Kent St 33-13

By Travis Johnson/STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Trace McSorley isn’t offended when he sees defenders packing the line of scrimmage, knowing their primary goal is to stop the electric running back lined up next to or behind him on any given play. The Penn State quarterback is content to build his own reputation as a playmaker, and eventually, a downfield-passer to be reckoned with. Although he and the rest of Penn State’s new-look offense started slowly in a 33-13 win over Kent State on Saturday, McSorley believes he made positive first steps toward that goal. “When you’ve got Saquon (Barkley)…
