PSU Beats IU, Hamilton 3 TD Catches

By Travis Johnson — STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — DaeSean Hamilton began his Penn State career uncertain he’d ever get a chance to contribute. He’ll end it with the most receptions in Nittany Lions history. The fifth-year senior caught nine passes for 122 yards and three touchdowns and broke the school receptions mark in No. 4 Penn State’s 45-14 victory over Indiana on Saturday. “I think he’s a great example for our younger players,” coach James Franklin said. “They’ve been playing football at Penn State for a long time. There’s been a bunch of really good players. So whenever you…

PSU 41, Iowa 14

GoPSUSports.com – UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 12 Penn State led from the game’s opening drive to the finish, as another 200-plus all-purpose yard performance by Saquon Barkley and a staunch run defense that yielded just 30 yards carried Penn State to a 41-14 victory over Iowa in Big Ten football action Saturday night Beaver Stadium. A raucous crowd of 106,194 cheered the Nittany Lions to their fifth straight victory and their sixth straight at home. At 7-2, Penn State is off to its best start since starting the 2011 season 8-1. The Lions have won 12 out of their…

Penn State Crushes Purdue

GoPSUSports.com / WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – After heading into halftime tied at 17, No. 24 Penn State scored 17 straight to open the third quarter and outscored Purdue 45-7 in the second half on its way to a 62-24 victory on Saturday afternoon inside Ross-Ade Stadium. The Nittany Lions had six scoring drives of under two minutes on their way to the first 60-point scoring game since the 2008 season (66 vs. Coastal Carolina). Their 62 points scored are the most against a Big Ten opponent since 2005 when Penn State claimed a 63-10 victory at Illinois. Sophomore running back…

A Win For The Ages!

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — The white out in the stands became the white out on the field as Penn State fans mobbed their Nittany Lions. Well after the biggest victory of the post-Joe Paterno era was over, the cries of “We Are! Penn State!” echoed underneath 56-year-old Beaver Stadium and bounced off its big rusty metal beams. It felt like the good ol’ days for Penn State football and Happy Valley was downright ecstatic Saturday night after the Nittany Lions upset No. 2 Ohio State 24-21. “Obviously these types of wins are important,” coach James Franklin said. “To be…

PSU Comeback Falls Short

PITTSBURGH, PA (UPI) – Penn State wouldn’t lie down but Pittsburgh wouldn’t be denied. Quadree Henderson returned a fourth-quarter kickoff 84 yards to set up James Conner’s second touchdown of the game and Pittsburgh held on to beat Penn State 42-39 on Saturday in Pittsburgh. With Penn State nearing field goal range, Pittsburgh safety Ryan Lewis intercepted Trace McSorley’s pass in the end zone with 1:15 left to secure the win in the first meeting of the two rivals since 2000. George Aston added two touchdowns for the Panthers (2-0) who stayed ahead with a punishing ground game. Saquon Barkley…
