Craig Sager Joins ESPN’s NBA Finals Game 6 Telecast

Throughout his award-winning and prestigious career, TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager has never ever worked an NBA Finals game. But that will all change on Thursday.

Sager has been battling leukemia and is undergoing aggressive treatment yet has continued to work through it, covering the playoffs for TNT. But since the Finals are on ESPN, Sager’s coverage ended with the Western Conference finals. However, in a rather unique move, ESPN has hired Sager to work Game 6 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Sager said in a statement, “I’d like to thank Turner and ESPN for approaching me with this tremendous opportunity to be part of The Finals broadcast team,” said Sager. “I’ve been watching the series very closely and, while I do not want to distract in any way from the event itself, I look forward to being in the building for what will be an incredibly exciting Game 6. The NBA community is a very special one and this is a great honor.”
