As recently as April 23 of this year, Pete Rose denied that he ever bet on baseball as a player. However, a report by ESPN’s Outside The Lines offers evidence that Rose, who for years denied betting on baseball as a manager before finally admitting as much, did indeed bet on games in which he played. As for that evidence, OTL has obtained documents that reportedly show Rose’s betting on games during his playing days with the Reds, specifically in 1986, when he served as player-manager. Chambers Announces Geno Thorpe’s Leaving
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (June 11, 2015) – Patrick Chambers, head coach of the Penn State men’s basketball team, announced Thursday that Geno Thorpe, a sophomore guard from Pittsburgh, would not return to the Nittany Lions next season. “We thank Geno for his two years at Penn State and wish him well,” Chambers said. Thorpe saw action in 66 games during his two seasons with Penn State, averaging 6.0 points and 2.1 rebounds.
Big Ten Gives PSU 2014-15 Bowl Money
PSU.edu – During a review of bowl games and revenues, the Big Ten Council of Presidents and Chancellors decided today (June 7) to provide a full share of the 2014-15 Big Ten football bowl revenues to Penn State, providing the Nittany Lions with approximately $4.5 million in unanticipated funds. Top officials from FIFA, the international governing body of soccer, were arrested on federal corruption charges Wednesday morning at a luxury hotel in Zurich, Switzerland. The arrests came at the behest of the United States Justice Department in what The New York Times described as an “extraordinary early-morning operation.” The paper, which first reported the news citing three Swiss law enforcement sources, notes that charges against the soccer executives, some of whom were not in attendance, range from wire fraud to racketeering to money laundering. One Pennsylvania lawmaker believes the time is right to once again honor Joe Paterno — and do so by naming a major state bridge after the legendary Penn State coach. PennLive.com reported Friday that state Rep. Michael Regan (R) plans to introduce a bill that would christen the Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge over the Susquehanna River the “Joseph V.
