Rivers and Stevens Selected as Student-Athletes of the Year

  UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa – Penn State Athletics announced its Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Year, with NCAA track champion Danae Rivers and men’s basketball standout Lamar Stevens claiming honors for the highly successful 2019-20 academic year.   Rivers is the third member of the women’s cross country and track & field program to earn Female Student-Athlete of the Year, joining Kim McGreevy, who was the recipient in 1996-97, and Shana Cox, who won the award in 2006-07 and 2007-08. UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Athletics has announced the 2020 Blue-White Virtual Tailgate initiative, taking place on Saturday, April 18 at 11 a.m. (ET). Fans are encouraged to host their own virtual tailgates and interact with exclusive content across Penn State Football digital channels. The virtual tailgate is an effort for fans to come together and show their Penn State pride. Fans are asked to wear white and show their Penn State spirit by hosting their own video conferences with their friends and families. Big Ten, Penn State Cancels Competition Through End of Academic Year

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Big Ten Conference and Penn State Athletics announced today the cancellation of all conference and non-conference competitions through the end of the academic year, including spring sports that compete beyond the academic year. As such, Penn State Athletics teams will no longer compete for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year. Chambers Named Werner Ladder Naismith Coach of the Year Semifinalist

ATLANTA – Penn State men’s basketball coach Patrick Chambers was named one of semifinalists for the 2020 Werner Ladder Naismith Coach of the Year Semifinalist as announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club today. Chambers has guided the Nittany Lions to 21 overall wins and 11 Big Ten Conference wins, most league wins in his tenure at Penn State. Franklin’s Contract Terms Announced

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – In December 2019, Penn State’s James Franklin agreed to the terms of a new six-year contract to remain as the head football coach of the Nittany Lions through 2025. The terms, which were approved by the Compensation Committee of Penn State’s Board of Trustees in December, were announced today.
