Report: Rutgers Coach Kyle Flood Suspended 3 Games

NJ.com/PISCATAWAY — Kyle Flood has been suspended for three games as Rutgers footballcoach and fined $50,000 following a university-led investigation into rules violations and amid a recent string of off-field transgressions involving players on his team, university president Robert Barchi told NJ Advance Media. Barchi spoke to NJ Advance Media only 15 minutes after notifying Flood of the suspension and fine, he said. Ruben Amaro…….Gone.

MLB.com/Phillies.com – The Phillies announced today that the club has elected not to extend the contract of senior vice president and general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. The team has named assistant GM Scott Proefrock as interim GM effective immediately. Amaro, 50, was named to his current position in November 2008 after serving as assistant GM for 10 years. Amaro became part of the Phillies organization as a batboy from 1980-83. No Names on PSU Football Jerseys

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; July 16, 2015 – The Penn State football program announced that it will remove the names from the backs of its jerseys beginning this season. Additionally, the program announced it would unveil and distribute its 2015 poster at various locations in State College on Thursday, July 16 from 6:45-7:45 p.m. The decision to remove the names from the jerseys was made to pay homage to the history of Penn State football and return to the tradition that represented Penn State for 125 years. Bo Ryan Retiring After the Season

Monday’s major news in college hoops is simply this: Bo Ryan is likely entering his final season as Wisconsin’s coach. Ryan released a statement that revealed he openly debated retiring this past spring, but after discussions with his athletic director, he took some time to think it over. He’s opting for one more season on the bench in Madison, and after that, his hope is that the program will do what Syracuse just formally announced: name a current assistant as its coach-in-waiting. Phillies Sandberg Resigns

Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg has resigned from his post, the club announced Friday. Sandberg, 55, ended up taking over as Phillies manager when Charlie Manuel stepped down in August of 2013 and was then named full-time manager before the season concluded.
