No Appeal

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft disagrees with the way in which NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has gone about punishing his football team for Deflategate, but Kraft’s conflict with the NFL and the commissioner are going to end there. Speaking at the NFL owners meetings in San Francisco on Tuesday, Kraft informed reporters — and NFL fans everywhere — that the Patriots will accept the penalties handed down by the NFL. The team will not appeal its punishment. “I don’t want to continue the rhetoric that has gone on for the last four months,” Kraft said. “I’m going to accept,…

The league also fined the Patriots $1 million and took away two draft picks, including next years’ first-round choice. The NFL also indefinitely suspended the two equipment staffers who carried out the plan, including one who called himself “The Deflator.” The league cited the integrity of the game in handing down the punishment five days after a report said Brady “was at least generally aware” of…

Everett Golson Leaving ND

The Notre Dame quarterback competition has apparently been settled. Everett Golson has decided to transfer and spend his final season of (immediate) eligibility playing elsewhere, as first reported by ESPN.com. Just where that elsewhere will be is not known at the moment. Golson was on pace to graduate from Notre Dame this month, and as a graduate transfer, wherever he ends up, he will not have to sit out a season. And he’ll likely have plenty of suitors to choose from. While he had problems with turnovers in 2014, Golson is still a talented quarterback with plenty of experience. He’s…

RGIII Gets 5th Year in Washington

Elliott Smith CBSSports.com -Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan announced Monday that the team will pick up quarterback Robert Griffin III’s fifth-year option for the 2016 season, a move worth $16.155 million, per The Washington Post. The Redskins have already announced that Griffin will be the starter this season, and locking him up would not affect the team’s plans, if they have any, to draft a quarterback. NFL Media insider Albert Breer said the team views the option as a franchise tag of sorts. The risk comes in that if Griffin is hurt during this season, the Redskins would be on the…
